The Central Valley Showdown was held July 7-8 at Edison High School in Stockton CA. The event
had 36 teams from 10U-15U. Teams came out in full force from Salinas, Sacramento, Oakland,
Stockton, Hayward, Diablo Valley, Modesto, Rocklin, Pleasanton, Vallejo, Tracy and Patterson.
The heat proved a challenge for some but no sweat to other teams like the Stockton Shock , who
took first in 10U, 11U, 12U year old age groups. Stockton Blazers also faired well in the un-
airconditioned 100 degree Varsity gym to take first place in the 15U age division, even in the midst
of playing both in the Central Valley Showdown and the Ripon High Tournament on the same
weekend.
Exciting pool was guaranteed in all divisions and bracket play in the 12U division. The Ruff Ryders
and the Stockton Shock gave the crowd a show in the championship with a last second win by the
Shock. On the other side of the bracket the Nor-Cal Warriors and Sacramento Predators also
proved to have an nail biter with the Warriors pull it out by 3 at the end.
The high flying, all star Diablo Valley Tarheels proved unstoppable going 3-0 against Duran’s
Allstars, Delta Fastbreak and the Sacramento Predators at the 14U division.
The 13U Division 1 was exciting beyond belief. Each team came in with poise and confidence and a
winning record. No team went undefeated. The Oakland Rebels made a road trip and beat Delta
Fastbreak on day one but were knocked out of the championsip race on day two by the Vallejo
Hustlers. On day two Oakland returned to face off against the Ruff Ryders 13U squad. In a last
second crowd pleaser the Ruff Ryders dropped a three to steal the show. YBA Dawgs cleaned up
in their pool at the 13U division on Saturday but were defeated in the Championship against Delta
Fastbreak 13s.
Thank you to all the teams who came out and supported our event, whether you brought one team
or 4 teams you are very much appreciated. Thank you to all who made the distant road trips and
were you are headed to Las Vegas, Cal State Games or football season we are glad you came.
